| Sailing Yacht Short History |
Sailboats were used from times immemorial. Desire to sail across rivers, seas and oceans prompted man to create a boat. The first records of boats were found on clay tablets in Egypt, made more than 6000 years ago. Many historians consider that ancient Greeks began to investigate the Aegean sea more than 10,000 years ago. We known from the yachting history that Pharaohs in the Ancient Egypt loved to sale by Nile on the boats made of papyrus. It was customary to bury the mummified remains of Pharaoh together with a boat that it was easier for him to travel in the other world. Indian Maharajah also loved excursion cruises by waters of the Kerala river. Phoenicians were considered very skilful shipbuilders. |

A yacht is your house, a favourite toy, family, a symbol of your life attitude or at least presumptive source of income. Therefore it's necessary to chose it as careful as possible, like when purchasing a car.
There are two essentially different variants. A charter yacht and a private one. A charter yacht is leased out, and, accordingly, the more active it is exploited, the better it is for an owner. I shall not explain whan it is fraught with, simply draw an analogy with purchase of used car. If you do not have experience of used yacht purchase, the analogy with the car can help you to avoid many mistakes.

| Yacht Voyage Round Greece |
Those, who are travelling around Greece for the first time feel not only mental and physical comfort, but also the true delight with the beauties of the nature and monuments of ancient civilization which are striking one's imagination.
It's generally known that Greeks are living in a museum under an open sky and "sell" rather skilfully history of the richest ancient culture through tourism. But it is surprisingly cheerful and hospitable museum. Me and my friends experienced this during our tour on a sailing yacht by the Aegean Sea. We were novices at this type of the rest and that's why chartered a yacht with a skipper from a company for a week. |

| The "Catch and Release" Principle |
We hear the words "catch and release" more frequent lately. This word combination is met almost on every page in the prints devoted to a fishing subject. It comes to the funny things. It was in a magazine, exceptionally advertising publication, illustrated richly with the pictures of fishermen near the mountains of the caught fish, and here you come across this precious formula.
The "catch and release" is an essential sign of the good form, it's a synonym of the "civilized" fishing, an ideal which all of us should strive for as hard as we can. Everybody catches fish this way in the United States already. Some countries are still far away from this.
But is the "catch and release" method as good as it may seem at first? |

| Review of the Knives Used in Boating |
Necessity of a rigging knife (rescue knife) on a boat is undoubted - almost every instruction of a good marine practice has an item which says there must be a knife on a boat.
The basic and practically unique task of the knife on a boat or yacht is to cut quickly a plant or synthetic rope or a strap, not hurting anybody and not damaging anything at that. Therefore an excellent boat knife should have a sheepfoot shaped blade with "aggressive" serrated edge.
What kind of knife do you need? Should it be fixed blade or folding knife? Does your knife need to have sheepfoot shaped blade? Why having serrated edge? Should be it be cheep or produced by acknowledged leader of the world knife industry? So, how to choose the best knife for you and your boat? |

| Man Overboard! - Lifting a Person Back on Board |
The main in the situation called "Man Overboard" that falling usually happens unexpectedly and at the most inconvenient moment.
Instructions how to lift a person back on board are generally included in the structure of all navigator courses of fullsize and small size ships. It is taught there commonly that helmsman should simply steer the ship to the place of falling. Completely dressed man in reality becomes clumsy in the water, it's difficult to grasp him, and his weight would be enough to drag his rescuers away in the water. So, how to lift a fallen person back on a little motorboat, especially if only one person was left in it? |
