Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Z Jones had a yacht cruise recently. They were sailing on a luxury yacht with a crew, which was flying an American flag. The couple of Hollywood actors started off from St Tropez in the south of France last month and have been traveling through the Mediterranean sea with a group of friends.

Michael Douglas played a swashbuckling yachtsman in one of his best known films named Romancing the Stone. So Douglas is familiar with yachting, the feeling of sailing on a yacht, steering a yacht. Well, both in the movie and in this yachting cruise he probably didn't steer a yacht himself, there are experts who do that. Sailing a yacht is not something new for celebrities, but they rarely steer a yacht themselves.

On this yachting cruise happened something interesting. The captain of the luxury yacht where Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones and their friends were sailing, had not reported port authorities who was on board and haven't gained the right paperwork. Port authorities claimed the couple had broken immigration and anti-terrorism laws by landing on the Italian Riviera without notifying them of their arrival. "It's a question of security, of guarding the port landing and the visitors. The laws have been toughened up and all captains should be aware that they are supposed to inform us of the names of those taken ashore. In this case the captain did not inform us and as a result he was fined," coastguard Pietro Micheli said.

The fine was said to have been more than 2 thousand euros. Though, the sum is unlikely to worry the millionaire couple. Michael and Catherine are frequent summer visitors of exclusive resort of Santa Margherita Ligure near Portofino in the Mediterranean.

Catherine Z Jones has recently completed work on the romantic comedy The Rebound and is inclined to play legendary sex-symbol Lana Turner in an up-coming biography.

Michael and Catherine have been married for over seven years already. Michael Douglas is 64 years old already and Catherine Zeta-Jones is 38. They have two children Dylan and Carys, seven and five years old correspondingly. The Mediterranean yacht cruise is a perfect chance for the Hollywood couple to enjoy some alone time, after they have left their children at home in Bermuda with family.
