| Yacht Voyage Round Greece |
Those, who are travelling around Greece for the first time feel not only mental and physical comfort, but also the true delight with the beauties of the nature and monuments of ancient civilization which are striking one's imagination.
It's generally known that Greeks are living in a museum under an open sky and "sell" rather skilfully history of the richest ancient culture through tourism. But it is surprisingly cheerful and hospitable museum. Me and my friends experienced this during our tour on a sailing yacht by the Aegean Sea. We were novices at this type of the rest and that's why chartered a yacht with a skipper from a company for a week.

A skipper helped us to choose a route, and we head for cape Sounion in the southern part of Attica. We were swimming there, baking in the sun, fishing, constantly amazing the cleanness of the water, sand beaches and bays. And then we left to see a magnificent temple, devoted to a sea god Poseidon, and we admired fascinating view of bay Saronicos for a long time. Kythnos island became the next point of our trip in 25 miles from cape Sounion. There are hot mineral wells in the small town of Lutra on Kythnos island where even ancient Greek monarchs have been taking the steam baths, restoring there health. We also did not deny ourselves this exotic and useful pleasure. Our company rested after a bath and set out to Seriphos island.
A local fisherman named Nikos invited us for a morning fishing. We agreed without any enthusiasm, as we have heard from our countrymen that haul is not very rich in local places usually. However our doubts were dispelled when we began to take out of nets crabs, squids, octopuses, red fish barbun and a great number of other fish, the names of which it's difficult to remember. But the main catch we'll keep in our minds forever, we caught... a shark! Even Nikos was amazed and said that it is a rare success. In the evening we celebrated our success in a fishing tavern which Nikos runs with his sons. Pleasure from a generous and delicious Greek cuisine defies description, as they say, a lip-smacking good.
The main aim of our yachting voyage was Mikonos island, the real pearl of the Aegean sea, where international high society party is held annually. But on the way we did the short stop on Syros island to make sure again that all Greek islands are not similar to each other, friendliness of people and warm attitude to all tourists unites them.
Finally the skipper moored our yacht in bay Ornos, where we saw yachts from England, Germany, Sweden, and even from Australia. Tourists from all over the world come to see Greece and everyone tries to visit Mikonos. The Hollywood stars, oil and aluminium kings rest here. Looking at them one can understand that they know how to rest, preferring small, comfortable hotels, quiet of virgin nature and peace of mind to pompous, fashionable hotels with their constant fuss and fair of vanity. Greeks know how to rest too, or, rather, they are able to live having a rest. Therefore comfort in this country is everywhere. And you will necessarily take away with you the mass of unforgettable impressions and memories about joyful adventures.

And we sailed on the yacht to Paros island in such state of bliss, where we rented motorcycles and travelled the length and breadth of the island.
For the first time in this yachting vacation we decided to arrange an evening with beer, shrimps, shashlik, songs for ourselves. An abundance of freedom and joy was so piercing it was hard to believe that life can so easily give a man feeling of happiness. Then we returned to the quiet, calm Seriphos, where the skipper organized a real school of the sailing art and navigation for us. Even our ladies learned to steer a yacht and set sails, although I always considered it particularly masculine job. At the last en route Kea island we weighed anchor on our own, but under the vigilant supervision of our skipper. When we approached Athens, it seemed to me that seven days passed as one, and I envied Greeks and their gods who live here since creation of the world. The weather was excellent all the days, so our yachting voyage turned into the super rest!
