World Superyacht Award—Young Designer of the Year 2008. Boat International, in association with the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, have announced the introduction of a new competition, sponsored by Camper & Nicholson International, to find the world's best Young Superyacht Designers. The competition is intended to provide a showcase for young designers to demonstrate their ability and talents, and to encourage the development of the next generation of superyacht designers. The first award will be presented at the World Superyacht Awards in Venice on April 18. The winner will receive a prize of €5,000.Entries should be submitted on CD-ROM or DVD by Jan 31, 2008.

Superyacht Symposium, March 12-13, Miami Beach Convention Center.The fourth annual International Superyacht Symposium, a two-day series of panel discussions, is to be held in conjunction with the 24th annual Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention. The Superyacht Symposium features a full slate of panel discussions covering all aspects of the growing large-yacht sector, including the current and future order book, environmental challenges, technology and related regulatory issues, crewing and marina development. Attendees and participants will include large-yacht builders, designers and naval architects, brokers and project managers, government representatives, marina developers and contractors, yacht captains and crew, insurance and financial institutions, surveyors and consultants.
