Cruisers
Cruisers are usually boats with length from 22 to 33 feet (6,7-10 meters), which have one or one and a half (don't be surprised!) cabins, separated toilet and caboose block. Sometimes such boats are named "family cruisers". It's possible to divide cruisers into types depending on the architecture-planning decisions.
Sedan. Big part of cruisers is built in traditional arrangement with a deck-house, which has circular glass cover. Using automobile terminology, they are named "sedan". Sedans, depending on the deck-house roof construction, are also divided on:
* coupe - movable sky-lights can be (as in a car) in the roof superstructure. Some producers use this place for solarium;
* flybridge - opened conning bridge can be located on the sedan deck-house roof when sizes allow. The bridge gives an excellent view and makes ship control more comfortable. Flybridge is an abbreviation from “flying bridge”; command bridge is its synonym.
Sport Cruiser. Speed characteristics are more important, than tonnage for many cruiser owners, whose free time is relatively limited. Sport cruiser, pretty popular type of boats, was created for them. This is a boat, which has single-dimension (without superstructure) hull, where salon, caboose and latrine are located. The cockpit deck is raised, there is a semicabin under it with a full-size bed for two people in the middle part.
Express Cruiser. Express cruiser occupies intermediate position between sedan and sport cruiser. Express cruiser is boat with superstructure, which is expressed less obviously, then sedan's, but not "buried in the deck", like in sport cruiser (historically this type preceded the last one).
Touring Boat. Another, mainly European type of cruiser. Touring boat is intended for the distant trips and provides more or less comforts conditions on board. Ideologically touring boats are close relatives of larger yachts-trawlers (see further).
Motor Yachts

It's generally known that yacht is not necessarily boat with a sail: any ship for rest which is not used with commercial aim is called so. There is no accurate border between cruisers and motor yachts, however generally they used to call a ship over 33 feet long (10 meters) a motor yacht. Motor yachts on the function and architecture-construction decisions are similar in a great deal to their younger brothers - cruisers.
Sport Yacht. Sport yachts are high-speed ships (30-40 knots), armed with powerful engines, created for short duration trips as a rule. Subordinate to the high-speed idea, they have relatively small fuel tanks capacity. High fuel rate limits the sail remoteness even at comparatively small weight and enviable speed, that's why sport yachts travel from marine to marine. The hull is single-dimension usually, with a light semi-deckhouse or simply with a hard roof above cockpit. This type of motor yachts is evolution of sport cruisers by increasing of its sizes and is close to high performance boats sometimes; sport yachts, unlike the last one, are more adjusted for the protracted stay on board.
Pilot House. The most numerous group among motor yachts consists of traditional architecture boats with developed superstructure (we agreed to name this type “sedan”). Most of these boats have fly-bridge on the roof of superstructure since sizes allow that. Pilot house means sometimes the room of the conn post, disconnected from saloon (conning bridge). A separate pilot house is belonging of a quite big ship, that's why this term used in the name of models gives certain weight to a boat (but not always merited).
Trawler. Everybody has his own boating. One uses boats for short tours during the weekend, other lives there at summer as on a summer residence. There are people for whom boating is not only the way of life, but the life itself.
These people dwell on their boats constantly, furrow seas and oceans, making thousand-mile migrations. Special ships are necessary for this purpose. Yachts of trawler type were initially rebuilt from fishing-boats, therefore this name assigned to them. Distinctive signs of this type are the hull, designed for sailing in displacement mode with the speed up to 10-12 knots, increased seaworthiness and autonomousness. Internal rooms: cabins, saloon and caboose - arranged for the less amount of people, but for the long trip.
Mega (Super) Yacht. The name itself already tells us, that something exclusive is ment, going beyond a commonness (look at the picture at the beginning of the article). Sizes of mega yachts begin from 60 feet. It's possible to talk about their equipment, decoration and possibilities during a long time and excitedly. There are dockyards, which build such yachts by small series, executing the order of their very well-off customers.
