| Choosing of Reliable Inflatable Motor Boat |

Let’s
learn together how to choose high-quality inflatable motor boat.
Certainly, it’s better to do this on an exhibition, since it’s possible
to see all producers and suppliers of boats there, talk to them, touch
a commodity and get a discount at a purchase of a boat. We can discuss
now what should you pay more attention to while choosing an inflatable
motor boat.
"Motor”
means transom must be reliable. Here one should pay attention to the
thickness, inclination, painting and defence of the motor transom.
Thickness of the transom under motors to 15 HP must be not less than 25
mm, for more powerful motors of inflatable boats transom must be 35 mm
and more. For the most motors, transom must have inclination of 4-6 degrees. It’s easy to align a boat in this case, moving a load, and to adjust inclination of motor "leg", so that a screw is twisted in water strictly horizontally and on maximal turns. This will give the best catch, and will provide the mode of motor operations and its efficiency. An inflatable motor boat will not be porpoise and a screw will not begin to snatch air. The transom surface should be covered with a paint on the basis of 2-component epoxide resin – it is more reliable than, for example, coverage with enamel paints. The top of the transom must be protected with the special paint, so that plywood, which the transom is made of, would not shred.
Transom inset. Transom inset at most inflatable motor boats is pasted in by a polyvinyl chloride type - transom holder, which is bent at pumping of cylinders. It’s U-shaped sides hold strongly pasted in transom. Very good engineering decision!
Cylinders. So, transom is pasted in cylinders of inflatable boat. If cylinders are weak, motor will be loosened during it’s work and a screw will begin to cast a stream away not strictly horizontally, but variably: both upwards or downward, this will negatively influence on inflatable boat exploitation.

Pressure in the cylinders. 240-250 millibar – this is pressure in the cylinders of the most inflatable boats. Why? Because the less pressure does not provide transom stability while using the outboard motors in the skimming mode. But how do they achieve such an index? We should pay attention here on the utilized fabric: the thicker they are, the better it is. Why is one boat much more lighter than another one at identical sizes? Just because the fabric which the boat is made of is lighter in the first case. Touch it and compare.
Stitches. Certainly, stitches of inflatable boats must be very reliable. Desirably they should be glued several times. Critical loadings are on the stitches. Certainly, you can’t check conditions when the inflatable boat was glued (humidity to 30 %, temperature 21-22°C) and if the hardening agent was added to the glue (very expensive component ingredient; the glue for gluing of inflatable boats together consists of two component ingredients), what provides 100 % polymerization of the glued together surfaces during 10-12 hours. But, nevertheless, it is necessary to examine attentively all stitches of the boat – this will not harm you. The force of the adult’s foot (weighing 80 kg) pressing on the ground is exactly 250 millibar. Just ask a salesman to stand on the cylinders of the inflatable boat you like or stand on them yourself. If the cylinder is soft under you it means the pressure is less than recommended value.
Floor. Pay attention to floor of an inflatable boat after this. It must be maximally framed by an aluminium line, so that during exploitation plywood edges would not be teared to pieces. Pressure in cylinders plays also a very important role here, since the collected floor abridges longitudinal stringer and the tightly pumped up cylinders and keel bursts it open. This gives an inflatable construction inflexibility.

Bottom of reliable inflatable motor boat. Its defence is the main: the bottom of the boat must be glued by polyvinyl chloride resin and to have additional protective straps made of PVC fabric. You should also pay attention to rowlocks, oars, pump, repair packing, safety hand rope and so on. Design, color, appearance and of course the name of your inflatable motor boat also have not the last importance. Talk to a shop assistant, find out about guarantee, addresses of service centres etc.
A price has a decisive importance sometimes, but you should remember that:
- "Niggard pays twice”
- "Greediness gives birth to poverty”
- "There's no such thing as a free lunch”
Good luck!
